Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring
Deep within the sacred Pakerisan River valley, the Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring monuments were carved into the landscape over a thousand years ago. Created during the Udayana Dynasty, these towering stone shrines were cut directly into the cliff face as sacred memorials to Balinese royalty. Once used for offerings and ritual devotion, they were built to enshrine the souls of the dead and anchor divine spirits to the valley, long after their mortal lives had ended.
