It was here that King Sri Jaya Pangus abandoned his queen and his kingdom for Dewi Danu, the beautiful goddess of Lake Batur, unleashing a tragedy that ended in divine wrath. When his deception was finally exposed, the mountain became the stage for a supernatural reckoning that engulfed the king and queen in flames before condemning them to an eternity in stone.
